MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR NATURAL STONE SURFACES
Granite is a hard and durable rock. Care must be taken when clearing ice and snow. You can easily break a corner by cutting. Impregnation with a preservative helps to prevent absorption of liquids. Wash off the substrate and make a sample in an out of sight location before treatment.
Marble is a softer stone. Marble can be easily scratched with a normal arrow. In addition, marble is very sensitive to acids, for example vinegar or acidic fruit (lemon) can easily damage the surface of marble. As marble and limestone are relatively porous compared to granite, liquids are absorbed more quickly. Liquids absorbed into the pores of the stone can leave a stain that is almost impossible to remove completely.
Cleaning Use a soft cloth to remove dirt during daily cleaning. The surface can be washed with a neutral detergent and water solution or simply with soap. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water without detergents. Do not use products containing acids, bathroom and enamel products, abrasive, liquid or paint strippers. Test the effects of heavy-duty cleaners in a sheltered/reduced area before use.
To avoid stains, liquids that have spilled on the stone should be cleaned up as quickly as possible to prevent the liquid from being absorbed into the pores of the stone. Particular care should be taken with vinegar, lemon, red wine, coffee, tea, grease and oil.
Maintenance
In order to reduce the infiltration of liquids into the pores of the natural stone, the tiles should be coated with a stone sealer. We recommend the use of the Italian company TENAX protective equipment specifically designed for natural stones. Protective equipment should be used on kitchen worktops. DREXY (on a polished surface) or GEAR (on polished surfaces - will reveal the colour of the stone) where food contact is permitted under EU Directive 90/128/EEC. On surfaces where there is no food contact, a protective agent may be used. PROSEAL.
NB: Mechanical damage must be avoided.
Cleaning tiles by scraping with a sharp object or sandpaper is prohibited.
